    Cannondale CAAD9 Review

    Cannondale CAAD 9 6
    CAAD9G
The Cannondale CAAD9 series of road bikes are Cannondale’s top of line aluminum road bike frames. Canondale offers one of the very few aluminum American made frames on the market and on top of that they are value priced with entire bikes starting at only 899 dollars. The middle of the line 2009 CAAD9 model is the 6, it is flanked by either the higher end mainly Shimano 105 ’5′ and the entry level CAAD9 7 with mainly Shimano Sora components. The CAAD9 6 is offered in white and grey color schemes and is available in a double or triple crankset option. The CAAD9 series of road bikes offer a veristile performance minded frame-set that are just as comforatable in a weekend crit as they are riding out on a metric century on the weekend.

The ’6′ is a well packaged performance road bike / budget minded racer. It comes stock with a full Shimano Tiagra component groupo save for the cassette and brakes, which are supplied by Sram and Tektro respectively. The ’6′ also comes equiped with Shimano wheels and a carbon/aluminum fork to soak up the bumps. Though the bike is only speced with modest entry level components; its combination of an elegant paint job and stiff and responsive chasis make for a bike that rides and looks like a much higher end and more expensive machine.

Cannondale’s CAAD9 is the companies flagship aluminum road bike. The frame alone weighs 1250 grams and this particular build is based upon a 54cm frame. Cannondale offers the CAAD9 frame in three mid level road bikes and also as a frame set available with Cannondale’s BB30 bottom bracket system. I have built this custom CAAD9 bike to weigh in at 15lbs or under. It is currently a work in progress and I will be posting pictures of the bike as it is finalized. Okhwan Yoon

Today we got a very interesting visit from Okhwan Yoon, a man cycling around the world. He was passing through town on his Trek road bike and happened upon one of our regulars, who brought him by the shop. A very nice soft spoken man, with a hell of a story. Here is a article written on him by a San Diego newspaper.

Okhwan Yoon departed South Korea seven years ago with his bike, yearning to see the world and discover why it’s so violent.

His education thus far: Yoon has been struck six times by cars, kidnapped in Sudan, held up in Portugal, attacked by knife twice and robbed of cameras five times.

    SE Draft Review

    SE Draft

The SE Draft is SE’s first model in their line of single speed road bikes. The bike is billed as a budget commuter style bike, and is the epitome of simplicity with one gear and two brakes. It is a no frills ride that does not mind being beaten up a little. Its chromoly frame and sturdy components are designed to withstand the rigors of city or campus life. The draft is available in two models, the Draft and the Draft Lite. The regular Draft comes with flat bars and a freewheel in the rear. The Draft Lite is the same bike, but with drop bars and a flip flop fixed/free rear hub. For an entry level fixed gear bike, the Draft Lite is a viable option for someone looking to get into some fixie cruisin’. As far as simplicity is concerned, you can’t beat the Draft or the Draft Lite.

    Jamis Earth Cruiser Review

    Jamis Earth Cruiser

The Jamis Earth Cruiser is everything a cruiser should be, along with a few improvements from old steel cruisers of times past. It is still fun, comfortable and stylish; but now it is made of a aluminum instead of steel. This makes for a much lighter, much more rustproof bike. The Earth Cruiser is available in either a one or three speed model, both with a coaster brake. I have nothing bad to say about the bike, it is an absolute blast to ride. The seat is squishy, the bars are wide and comfortable, and it’s sure to be one of the coolest looking bikes in town. I find it impossible to ride without a huge grin on my face. this bike is just the ticket for anything from a trip to the coffee shop to just cruisin’ the neighborhood.
