The Santos 12 hour race was pure craziness. The race loop consisted of the Vortex Trail to Dogbone to Twister back to the Vortex trail. The loop was about 9 miles and have roughly 850ft of climbing per lap. Team Super Cool Bike Shop completed 108miles in the 12 hours on a two man team, it was brutal.

Gainesville CreekSide Trail Review...

CreekSide Trails from Super Cool Biker on Vimeo.

The Creekside trails start behind Calico Jacks in the Creekside Plaza and twist and turn behind a series of neighborhoods and travel all the way to 62nd Blvd next to Oaks Mall. The trail ranges from tight twisty single track to double track dikes that tower above the surroundings. Creekside trail gives an awesome perspective of natural Florida and it is right in our backyard! The trail in mainly a beginner level with a few sections of intermediate riding(mainly due to roots!.) The trail is a great way to commute from 20th Ave to University and 34th without the fuss of auto traffic. Ride it.

Gainesville 8th Ave and Loblolly Trail Reviews...

Loblolly from Super Cool Biker on Vimeo.

These trails are very near and dear to our hearts as it’s the closest dirt trail to the Super Cool Bike Shop. The trail itself features all sorts of craziness…there are elevated wooden bridges, deep sugar sand, and even creek crossings! In other words: the trail contains all things good for mountain biking. There are two separate sections of this trail system, the Loblolly Woods Nature Park and the 8th Ave Trails. The most difficult sections of the trails are on the 8th Ave portion, it has sketchy bridges and 1 to 3(rained lately?) foot deep creek crossings! If you are looking for a short ride that lets you go fast and challenges your riding skill this is the place, on top of that it is located just north-west of the University of Florida campus! Riding skill varies between intermediate and advanced.

SE Draft Review...

SE Draft

The SE Draft is SE’s first model in their line of single speed road bikes. The bike is billed as a budget commuter style bike, and is the epitome of simplicity with one gear and two brakes. It is a no frills ride that does not mind being beaten up a little. Its chromoly frame and sturdy components are designed to withstand the rigors of city or campus life. The draft is available in two models, the Draft and the Draft Lite. The regular Draft comes with flat bars and a freewheel in the rear. The Draft Lite is the same bike, but with drop bars and a flip flop fixed/free rear hub. For an entry level fixed gear bike, the Draft Lite is a viable option for someone looking to get into some fixie cruisin’. As far as simplicity is concerned, you can’t beat the Draft or the Draft Lite.

Jamis Earth Cruiser Review...

Jamis Earth Cruiser

The Jamis Earth Cruiser is everything a cruiser should be, along with a few improvements from old steel cruisers of times past. It is still fun, comfortable and stylish; but now it is made of a aluminum instead of steel. This makes for a much lighter, much more rustproof bike. The Earth Cruiser is available in either a one or three speed model, both with a coaster brake. I have nothing bad to say about the bike, it is an absolute blast to ride. The seat is squishy, the bars are wide and comfortable, and it’s sure to be one of the coolest looking bikes in town. I find it impossible to ride without a huge grin on my face. this bike is just the ticket for anything from a trip to the coffee shop to just cruisin’ the neighborhood.

SE Lager Review...

SE Lager

The Lager is SE’s second model in their new line of single speed commuter road bikes. It is a no frills bike that is built to withstand the rigors of commuting. It has a sturdy chromoly frame, two brakes and one gear. It has a stylin set of bullhorn bars for that clipped and flipped look. If you have the urge to let your inner hipster come out, the rear wheel comes with a track cog as well as a freewheel so it is easily converted into a fixed gear. the brakes are easily removed, as are the cable clamps on the top tube. This allows for a simple clean looking brakeless fixie. The lager is one smooth riding machine, especially in fixed mode. One thing i like about the frame design is that the geometry is such that there is no toe overlap with the front wheel. (more…)
