Gainesville Bike Culture...
Gainesville, FL has a rich bicycle culture. Being on the cutting edge as far as social and ecological movements, Gainesville has many resources available to its riders. While true cyclists will always want more bike lanes and/or segregated bike paths; Gainesville is doing its best to accommodate its cyclists and grow with them.
The Gainesville also offers many trails to ride, both on and off road. Public trails include, Loblloly trails, Creekside trails, Alligator alley, Sweetwater branch. There are many other trails to ride, both public and private, marked an unmarked. Please use discretion, common sense and safety when visiting a trail system for the first time.
Many local businesses cater to cyclist, allowing for secure close bike parking and offering food and beverage choices cyclist will enjoy. UF and Shands also embrace bicycles as transportation.
